Kelli Bynum was born in Jacksonville, Florida.  She attended the Florida State University from 2000-2004, graduating Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.  Studying Social Work provided her with education and experience in areas such as child welfare, diversity, counseling, and advocacy.  She was a member of the Association of Student Social Workers, the National Social Work Honor Society, and named to the President’s List.  During the summer of 2003, she studied abroad in Spain, France, and England, observing the theory, practice, and diversity of Social Work in the larger international arena.  She completed an internship for the Guardian Ad Litem program where she advocated on behalf of abused, neglected, and abandoned children, representing their best interest to the court through reports detailing her observations and recommendation. She continued to do so as a volunteer for the next several years.

Upon graduation, Ms. Bynum returned to Jacksonville to attend law school where she graduated from The Florida Coastal School of Law.  She was a Dean’s Scholar and served as a member of the Sub-Committee to the Academic Standards and Outputs Committee consisting of four faculty members and three other students who reviewed and substantially revised the law school’s Honor Code.  She served as an intern for the State Attorney’s Office in the Juvenile Division where she fell in love with the courtroom and trial work.  Upon receiving her Juris Doctor in December of 2006, she was also given the Barbara McCalla Memorial Award, which recognizes one faculty member and one graduating student who have demonstrated compassion, commitment to both the community and Florida Coastal School of Law, and a strong interest in the support of justice for the less fortunate.

Ms. Bynum then went to work as an Assistant State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit.  During that time she prosecuted hundreds of cases in both the misdemeanor and felony divisions.  After her time as a prosecutor, she moved to criminal defense work.  Her time spent as both a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney has provided her with trial experience in cases ranging from DUI to First Degree Murder.  As a defense attorney, Ms. Bynum has been met with success on a number of occasions in trial, securing acquittals for her clients even in divisions as serious as Repeat Offender Court.

Ms. Bynum practiced as a sole practitioner with the Law Offices of Kelli J. Bynum, P.A. from 2009-2013 before becoming a partner with Hernandez and Bynum, where she also practiced Family Law.  She represents clients in matters involving dissolution of marriage, paternity, temporary needs, and post dissolution matters such as petitions to modify time sharing, alimony, and child support.

Ms. Bynum is a member of the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice law in all Florida State Courts and in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
