Raúl Farías has extensive experience representing national and international clients in Latin American cross-border transactions and global disputes in New York. He regularly advises venture capital and private equity funds, multinational corporations, and financial institutions with their dealings in Latin America.
Raúl has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, acquisitions and disposals of assets (including IT and software transactions), private equity, project finance, secured and unsecured lending transactions, corporate restructurings, loan restructurings, and other banking-related transactions. He also has considerable experience in tender offers, corporate governance, debt offerings (both on Latin American markets and under Rule 144-A and Regulation S), and other capital market transactions.
In addition, Raúl has developed considerable experience in highly sophisticated international litigation and arbitration disputes. He led the Jones Day team in New York that successfully represented MAG Silver Corp. in an ICC arbitration against Fresnillo plc, the world's largest primary silver producer, relating to a shareholders' dispute over one of the biggest undeveloped silver deposits in the world. He is also part of the Jones Day Global Disputes team representing one of the world's largest oil and energy corporations in a multibillion dollar case in South America.
Raúl has published articles on a variety of legal topics and has participated as a panelist at legal forums, including on the future of legal regulation of financial entities at a prestigious Mexican university.
