Raymond A. Franklin joined Sapir Schragin LLP as an associate in November 2012. He practices in the areas of labor and employment law and employment discrimination.  Mr. Franklin previously worked with Don Sapir and Howard Schragin at one of the nation’s leading labor and employment firms.
 
Mr. Franklin received his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 2010, where he held a Dean’s Fellowship upon graduation. Mr. Franklin worked in employment discrimination and labor law internships at New York State United Teachers Office of General Counsel and the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
 
While at St. John’s, Mr. Franklin was an Articles Editor for the Journal of Civil Rights and Economic Development, spent two years working as a research assistant on labor and employment issues, and was a member of the Labor Relations and Employment Law Society.  In 2009, he won the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel writing competition for his paper “Vesting Retirement Benefits: Revisiting Yard Man and Its Unacknowledged Presumption,” which was published in the Summer 2011 issue of the Journal of Civil Rights and Economic Development. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Franklin graduated with a B.A. from Villanova University in 2001.
 
Mr. Franklin is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Labor and Employment Law Section, and Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section. He is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association, and is on the Board of Advisors for the St. John’s University School of Law’s Center for Labor and Employment Law.
 
In March 2011, Mr. Franklin was a panelist at The Theology of Work and the Dignity of Workers conference at St. John’s University School of Law, presenting the article he co-authored, “Labor Songs: the Provocative Product of Psalmists, Prophets and Poets,” (Journal of Catholic Legal Studies, May 2012).
