Joanna Orr's practice focuses on taxation, with an emphasis on business transactions, nonprofit organizations and real estate. An AV-rated attorney and member of the State Bar of California since 2003, Joanna is also a member of the Ventura County Bar Association.
Joanna earned her law degree from the King Hall School of Law at the University of California, Davis. During law school, Joanna interned at the Franchise Tax Board, where she gained valuable insight into California taxation. Joanna then obtained her Master of Laws in Taxation at Georgetown University, where she wrote her graduate thesis on state taxation of gambling and Indian gaming in California. Earlier in her academic career, Joanna spent a year studying African political and economic development at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.
Prior to joining Ferguson Case Orr Paterson LLP, Joanna spent more than five years working for a Los Angeles firm, where her practice areas included taxation, business transactions and general civil litigation. Her pro bono work focused on advising nonprofit organizations trying to achieve sustainable development in California.
In her free time, Joanna is working towards her goal of visiting one country for each letter of the alphabet. Currently L, O, Q, U and Y remain.
