Tim Dollar is the founding partner of the law firm of Dollar, Burns & Becker, LC in Kansas City, MO.   Tim received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas , and his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  The emphasis in Tim's practice is in the area of tractor-trailer accidents, nursing home abuse, insurance bad faith claims, as well as many other areas of general personal injury.   When you work with Tim Dollar, it's not like being with a typical attorney.  Tim's passion for the law and his obsession with finding justice for his clients is obvious from the moment you meet him.  He is one of the most sought after attorneys in the Kansas City area.   His reputation precedes him as an attorney committed to honesty and ethics in his practice.  Tim not only represents his private clients, but he also works as a Special Assistant Prosecutor for Jackson County, Missouri.  The chief prosecutor repeatedly gives Tim some of the toughest, most high-profile cases in the office.   Future lawyers at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law have benefited from Tim's many years of experience.  For the past 23 years, Tim has been an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching The Art of Trial Advocacy.  Mr. Dollar has been a frequent lecturer on programs of continuing legal education for the Missouri Bar, The University of Missouri-Kansas City, The Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and The American Association for Justice.  In 1996, Tim was the recipient of the Lon O. Hocker Memorial Trial Attorney award.  This honor is given to an attorney in the state of Missouri who has demonstrated excellence in trial work. It is bestowed upon individuals by the judiciary of the state.  Tim Dollar serves on the 16th Circuit Bar Ethics Committee.  This panel reviews complaints brought against other lawyers to determine whether probable cause exists that ethical violations have occurred.  The Commission serves with the approval of the Supreme Court of Missouri.  Tim Dollar was elected by his peers in the Jackson County, Missouri Bar to the Judicial Nominating Commission.  When there is a judicial vacancy, this commission is responsible for interviewing and recommending to the Missouri Governor a panel of three attorneys to fill the vacant seat.  Tim is on the Executive Committee of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, an organization devoted to protecting the rights of victims and our civil justice system.  He was outspoken in his opposition to tort reform and testified often before the Legislature against such measures.  Always a tireless advocate for those residing in nursing homes, Tim has appeared on the ABC new program 20/20 as a spokesperson for those who have been victims of nursing home abuse. Tim has fought for years to upgrade the conditions of nursing homes, and improve the treatment of the elderly residents.  Tim's reputation in the legal community has brought him accolades from his peers.  Martindale Hubbell is generally regarded as the gold standard for rating attorneys nationally.  Martindale Hubbell seeks peer ratings of professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence and other criteria relevant to the discharge of professional responsibilities.  Tim has received an AV rating.  An AV rating is the highest level of professional excellence and signifies that Tim has reached the standard of preeminent attorney. A lawyer must be admitted to the bar for 10 years or more to receive an AV rating.  Tim has been recognized, for multiple years, as one of the Best Lawyers in America , and has been recognized by various publications, including, the Best of the Bar .  He was recently named to the top 100 lawyers in the Missouri-Kansas edition of Super Lawyers magazine.  He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.  Tim has appeared in jurisdictions throughout the country, including Missouri, Kansas, Michigan, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa and Hawaii .    Tim has tried over 250 trials in front of a jury.
