Casey T. Rundquist specializes in criminal defense, from misdemeanors to serious felonies. Before joining the Law Office of William J. Mauzy, Rundquist worked as a certified student attorney and contract attorney with the Ramsey County Public Defender's Office. He also served as the director for the University Of Minnesota Law School's Misdemeanor Defense Clinic in 2009, and worked in the Criminal Appeals Clinic. While gaining this practical experience, Mr. Rundquist graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. Through these experiences, Rundquist has represented hundreds of individuals charged with criminal offenses in the Twin Cities - Metro area, through jury trial and appeal, achieving notable results including:

  •  State v. D.G. (2007): Obtained outright dismissal of Disorderly House charges through motion to disclose the identity of a confidential informant.
  • State v. A.L. (2008): Won dismissal of False Information to Police charge after prevailing on a Fourth Amendment evidentiary suppression argument.
  • State v. A.N. (2008): Interfering With 911 Call and Domestic Assault charges dismissed at trial based on Confrontation Clause argument under Crawford v. Washington.
  • State v. D.B. (2009): Domestic Assault charges dismissed at trial based on a investigation leading to a recorded recantation by complaining witness.
  • State v. M.K. (2010): After winning suppression of client's statements as a violation of Miranda v. Arizona, negotiated favorable plea agreement to less serious charge.
  • State v. T.D. (2010): Misdemeanor Theft charges dismissed at trial.

At the Law Office of William J. Mauzy, Rundquist has continued to focus on advocating for the accused in core criminal matters, such as assault allegations, drug possession and sexual misconduct, while also branching out more heavily into DWI and white collar cases. Examples of recent successes include:

  • State v. B.B. (2011): Enhanced DWI and Forfeiture charges dismissed after contested evidentiary hearing.
  • State v. R.R. (2011): Assault charges dismissed after jury trial.
  • Creditor v. Debtor (2010 - 2011): Civil contempt charges dismissed after hearing.
  • State v. F.M. (2011): Pre-trial dismissal of enhanced felony theft by swindle charges.
  • State v. A.P. (2012): Dismissal of accusations related to free speech activity at the Minneapolis airport.
  • State v. J.E. (2012): Dismissal of violating order for protection charges
  • State v. M.L. (2012): Defendant acquitted of Felony Theft of Public Funds by jury.
