Hanrahan, John H.

J. Daniel Sagarin is a high honors graduate of Lehigh University, class of 1962 and Yale Law School, class of 1965. Mr. Sagarin clerked for U. S. District Judge Robert C. Zampano. After practicing in Boston, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney between 1967 and 1970. During that time he was responsible for many major federal prosecutions and secured convictions of major crime figures in Connecticut and federal tax violators. He has served as an adjunct professor of trial practice at Yale Law School. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a national organization, and recently served as Connecticut Chair of the College. He has been included in both the business litigation and criminal law categories by the Best Lawyers in America. He has lectured for the American Bar Association, as well as the American and Connecticut Trial Lawyers Associations and Northeastern Association of Forensic Scientists.

Mr. Sagarin's practice includes class action work in antitrust, securities fraud, and ERISA matters. In addition, he has litigated personal injury, professional malpractice cases, and federal and state criminal defense. Mr. Sagarin serves as a Special Master in the United States District Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association Litigation sections, as well as the American and Connecticut Trial Lawyers Associations.

Mr. Sagarin is AV Peer Review Rated, Martindale-Hubbell's highest peer recognition for ethical standards and legal ability. Mr. Sagarin was selected by The Connecticut Bar Foundation as a James W. Cooper Charter Life Fellow (1995). Selection as a Cooper Fellow requires demonstrated superior legal ability and devotion to the welfare of the community, state, nation and the advancement of the legal profession.

Mr. Sagarin was selected to the Connecticut Super Lawyers list as published in the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 issues of Connecticut Magazine and Connecticut Super Lawyers Magazine and the 2007, 2008, and 2009 issues of the New England Super Lawyers Magazine, in the area of General Litigation; and in the 2008, 2009, and 2010 Editions of The New York Area's Best Lawyers Magazine in the areas of White-Collar Criminal and Non-White-Collar Criminal Defense.
