Dennis Jenkins is a partner in the firm's Corporate and Transactional and Intellectual Property Departments, and a member of the Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Practice Group. He joined the firm in 1997. Mr. Jenkins is a financial restructuring lawyer with extensive experience in debt finance transactions.

Practice

Mr. Jenkins has represented debtors, creditors' committees, individual creditors, and other interested parties in highly contested, US and international corporate restructurings and bankruptcy cases. He has also represented lenders, borrowers and lessors in connection with some of the most complex and innovative debt financing facilities and transactions.

Recent Highlights

Mr. Jenkins' experience includes:

  • Representing the ad hoc group of holders of Reader's Digest Association, Inc.'s 9% Senior Subordinated Notes Due 2017 in the Chapter 11 case of Reader's Digest and its affiliates
  • Representing The First Marblehead Corporation and its affiliates in connection with the Chapter 11 case of The Education Resources Institute, Inc., a guarantor of more than $20 billion in student loans
  • Representing the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation in the Chapter 11 case of Northwest Airlines where Northwest Airlines, together with its affiliates, had potential unfunded pension liabilities of more than $4 billion and secured conditional waiver liabilities of more than $370 million
  • Representing Arch Wireless, Inc. and 20 other affiliates, collectively the largest wireless messaging service provider in the United States, in successful restructuring of more than $2 billion in bank debt, publicly traded high-yield bonds and notes and trade debt
  • Representing the ad hoc committee of senior secured noteholders in connection with the restructuring of more than $700 million of publicly traded debt and other obligations of Satélites Mexicanos, a leading provider of fixed satellite services in Mexico, and its affiliate
  • Representing an ad hoc committee of creditors holding more than $220 million of junior secured obligations of McLeodUSA, one of the nation's largest independent competitive telecommunications services providers, in connection with McLeod’s Chapter 11 reorganization
  • Representing KB Toys, the nation's leading mall-based retailer, and its 69 affiliates in the Chapter 11 reorganization of their retail operations in over 1,200 store locations, as well as their wholesale and Internet business
  • Representing a Midwestern security alarm finance company in the out-of-court restructuring of $180 million of indebtedness and the sale of substantially all its assets
  • Representing Parts Plus Enterprises, LLC, a local auto parts distributor, in its Chapter 11 proceeding
  • Representing Whistler Corporation of Massachusetts in connection with the bankruptcy sales of its Stanley®-branded garage door business and radar detection businesses
  • Representing lenders and debtors in connection with a variety of asset-based, secured, unsecured, acquisition, debtor-in-possession, and cash-flow debt facilities
