Ms. Weaver is Chair of Wiggin and Dana's Health Care Department. For over 20 years, she has advised hospitals, provider networks, long-term care providers, home health care agencies, hospices, physicians and other health care providers and trade associations on regulatory, patient care, reimbursement, compliance, HIPAA, operational and corporate matters. Ms. Weaver lectures regularly at the state, regional and national levels on legal topics relating to health care.
With extensive experience representing long-term care providers, including continuing care retirement communities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and senior housing developers, Ms. Weaver chairs the firm's Long-Term Care Practice Group. Ms. Weaver is counsel to the Connecticut Association of Not-for-profit Providers for the Aging (CANPFA) and a member of the Legal Committee of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). She is a co-author of The HIPAA Handbook: Implementing the Federal Privacy Rule in a Long-Term Care Setting, published by AAHSA.
Ms. Weaver heads up Wiggin and Dana's Health Care Compliance Practice Group, and her practice includes the development of corporate compliance programs for health care providers, conducting audits and internal investigations to assess compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements and advising clients on reporting compliance issues to government authorities. She has represented clients in state and federal investigations and audits on Medicare and Medicaid billing and civil False Claims Act issues.
Ms. Weaver is a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association. She is also a director of the Association for Long Term Care Financial Managers. Ms. Weaver is past President of the Connecticut Health Lawyers' Association and a former Director of the Connecticut Assisted Living Association. Ms. Weaver is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the category of best health care lawyers. She is a Connecticut Bar Foundation James W. Cooper fellow and served as a member of the Connecticut Bar Association's Task Force on the Futures of Women in the Legal Profession.
Ms. Weaver served on Wiggin and Dana's Executive Committee from 2002-2009 and was Chair of the Executive Committee from 2006-2009.
She is President of Theatre 4, a non-profit, New Haven-based theater company and previously served as a director of the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut.
Ms. Weaver graduated with an A.B. magna cum laude from Duke University, and received her law degree from UCLA School of Law.
