Dave is a shareholder in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is based in our Minneapolis office and is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section and Environmental Practice Group. Dave practices principally in the areas of:

• Labor and employment law
• Civil litigation
• Environmental law

Dave was recently appointed executive director of the World Press Institute, an organization through which more than 500 journalists in 94 countries have benefited by its annual fellowship program. He is a member and past chair of the Ramsey County Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section and member and past chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section. He is a member of the American Bar Association and has been selected as a "Leading American Attorney." Dave has also been designated a "Super Lawyer" by Minnesota Law & Politics. He is a current member of the board of Graywolf Press and serves as the organization’s pro bono legal counsel.

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dave received his B.A. from Carleton College and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree from the New York University School of Law and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Earl Larson of the U.S. District Court of Minnesota. Dave was formerly the executive editor of the Annual Survey of American Law. He joined Briggs in 1981.
