Myers, Charles F.

Howard is counsel in the Business Department and will practice from the firm's New York City office.  His practice focuses on the intersecting disciplines of capital markets transactions and business reorganizations and restructurings.  He has represented issuers, underwriters, originators (including first-time originators of new assets) and servicers on a wide range of issuances of structured and synthetic products (including interest rate, credit default and total return swaps) as well as the securitization of various traditional assets (commercial and home mortgages, auto loans and credit card receivables), in addition to other classes, including equipment and operating leases, energy related products, utility receivables, trade receivables, telecom receivables, franchise loans, health care receivables, insurance and annuity related products, and intellectual property assets.  Howard also has represented issuers of asset-backed commercial paper as well as investors in structured products and has acted as lead counsel on several M&A transactions involving servicers and originators as well as numerous acquisitions and divestitures of structured portfolios of various asset types. 

Howard has represented borrowers, lenders, creditors, debtors and creditors' committees in the course of directing the corporate aspects of a vast number of bankruptcy cases and insolvency matters.  Howard has been involved in numerous workouts and restructurings of debt and derivative transactions, purchases and sales of distressed assets (including distressed real estate sales), plans of reorganization, reorganizations of securitization trusts and collateralized debt obligations, special servicing arrangements, Section 363 sales and acquisitions, debtor-in-possession financings, intercreditor arrangements, claims trading, and exit financing (including the securitization of receivables of reorganized companies emerging from bankruptcy cases). 

Howard has testified before the House Financial Services Committee on the topic of Sales of Structured Products in the Secondary Market. Howard often appears on programs on the FOX Business Network and various business related cable television talk shows on other networks and is a frequent panelist at asset-backed industry conferences (including conferences sponsored by The American Securitization Forum, The Equipment Leasing Association and Information Management Network). He regularly authors articles for publication in various periodicals and law reviews.

Howard represents a broad spectrum of pro bono clients, including the Metropolitan Repertory Ballet and the Sorvino Asthma Foundation. 

Prior to joining White and Williams, Howard was a partner at McDermott, Will & Emery, a counsel at Dewey Ballantine and a bankruptcy associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy.

Howard is a cum laude graduate of Notre Dame Law School where he was Executive Editor of Notre Dame Law Review.
