Ms. Fisher was born in Berkeley, California, on August 9, 1948. She received her B.A. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1971, cum laude, and her J.D. degree from the University of California, Davis Law School, in 1976, Order of the Coif. In 1976, Ms. Fisher externed for Justice Raymond Sullivan of the California Supreme Court. She associated with the law firm of Morrison & Foerster in 1976, becoming a partner in 1982. From 1988 to 1991, Ms. Fisher was the Managing Partner of the firm's San Francisco office and now is Chair of the firm's Litigation Department. She is also head of a litigation group that is engaged in a general business litigation practice, including, particularly, consumer class actions, trust and estate litigation, and ADR-related litigation.
Ms. Fisher has tried many jury and non-jury cases, including consumer class actions. She is a frequent lecturer and panelist on a variety of topics in the civil litigation area, including for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (trial and deposition clinical practice), the American Bar Association (consumer class actions), Continuing Education of the Bar (discovery practice and evidence for business lawyers), the Northern District of California Federal Practice Program (trial and motion practice), and ADR topics. She is a member of the State Bar of California, the bars of the Northern District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and various ADR groups.
Ms. Fisher is active in professional and civic organizations. She currently serves on the Advisory Committee to the American Bar Association's Law Firm Pro bono Project, as a member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, and as Vice Chair of the ABA's section of Dispute Resolution Legislation Committee. From 1988 to 1990, she served on the San Francisco Mayor Art Agnos's HIV Task Force and served as Chairperson of its Care Subcommittee. Ms. Fisher also has been a trustee of the National Hispanic University and is active in the American Bar Association, the State Bar of California, and the Bar Association of San Francisco. She served as a director of the Bar Association of San Francisco from 1984-1986 and has previously chaired its Legal Services Committee. In 1983-1984, she received the San Francisco Bar's Award of Merit for her work on behalf of legal services for the poor.
