A former track and field All-America and All-Academic Student Athlete, Marshall earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Appalachian State University in 1987.
He earned his Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University in 1990. Marshall is licensed to practice in both North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
Marshall specializes in personal injury, wrongful death, social security disability, medical malpractice, and traffic offenses. Marshall has handled literally hundreds of cases in each of his specialty areas.
He has a reputation for being an attorney who cares about his clients and will do his best to help them. In 2011, he was named "Best Lawyer" by Fayetteville area residents in the annual "Reader's Choice" awards, published in the Fayetteville Observer Newspaper.
Marshall is also an avid community servant. While establishing his law practice, Marshall taught criminal justice at Fayetteville State University from 1993-2000, where he earned numerous awards for teaching and public service.
He also served on the Fayetteville City Council from 1999-2001, and he served two terms as Fayetteville's first African American mayor, from 2001-2005. Marshall is also a former member of the Board of Governors of North Carolina's Public University System.
Marshall, in partnership with his brothers, Miguel and Myron, also hosts a successful talk radio program in Southeastern North Carolina called MP3 Brothers, which focuses on politics, sports, and entertainment.
Marshall has also written some of his political opinions in the article, "The Supreme Court: Forging the Way for Upheaval in the Oval Office", that was published in 2000 in "The Communication and Law Journal'.
