Matthew Kohut received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University in 2004, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Philosophy. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree with honors from Rutgers School of Law – Camden in 2009, where he was a Dean’s Academic Excellence Scholar and a Philip J. Levin Scholar.
While in law school, Mr. Kohut served as the Managing Articles Editor of the Rutgers Journal of Law and Public Policy, and authored an article, “Recent Developments in Student Speech Law – Examining the Potential Fate of Harper v. Poway Unified School District,” which was published in Volume 6 of the Journal of Law and Public Policy in 2009. For this article, he received the Albert P. Blaustein Memorial Award for excellence in legal scholarship. During law school, Mr. Kohut also actively participated in public interest work, serving as the Treasurer for the Association for Public Interest Law and participating in the Street Law Project, the Domestic Violence Project, and the Pro Bono Research Project. For these activities, he was given a Pro Bono Award at graduation.
After law school, Mr. Kohut clerked for the Honorable Joseph F. Lisa, Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. Subsequently, he joined Feintuch, Porwich & Feintuch as an Associate.
