I have lived in the Pacific Northwest my whole life. I have family all over the Puget Sound area and here in Clark County. I am proud and grateful for the support of my friends and family that have allowed me to survive commuting to law school. Of course I am glad the days are behind me when I would have to sometimes read a bedtime story to my boys over a videoconference on my laptop because I was 75 miles Away at school.
Practicing law is an exciting second career for me. Before going back to school I worked as an IT lead supporting engineers at the HP Vancouver site. While I will always be a bit of a technical nerd, I found that the most enjoyable part of the job was being able to help people.
Often, with technological problems as in legal ones, getting help can be overwhelming. People need to Know what is going on, when to expect results, and often the process needed to solve the problems can Be confusing or unfamiliar territory. I enjoy and recognize the importance of good listening and respectful and open communication. I find the greatest satisfaction when I am able to help resolve a problem for Someone else.
Thankfully, now my office is much closer to home. My sons Ben (12), Joe (10) and Noah (6) continue to Enrich my life and be my inspiration. My wonderful wife of 18 years Tracy, is a social worker and an ordained Deacon in the Episcopal church. We hope for all three of our sons that whatever interests they pursue will lead them to do something that gives back and helps others, as we hope our own career choices reflect our values of respecting and caring for others.
