Scott Lyne practices intellectual property law, focusing on corporate transactions, licensing, and counseling involving intellectual property and technology. Scott's experience includes the negotiation and structuring of intellectual property purchases and sales, technology development and licensing agreements, manufacturing and distribution agreements, and the intellectual property and technology aspects of other corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, asset securitizations, private equity investments, capital markets offerings, and secured lending. In addition, Scott counsels clients on strategic intellectual property and technology matters, such as the development of strategies for the protection and exploitation of technologies and the enforcement of intellectual property rights, and works with clients on day-to-day operational issues relating to technology, intellectual property, electronic commerce, and privacy. Scott has worked with a wide range of clients in various industries, including public companies, as well as growing technology-driven businesses and start-ups.

Scott also has significant intellectual property litigation experience. He has represented domestic and foreign clients on matters involving diverse technologies, such as semiconductors, business methods, and physical and life sciences, and has experience with actions arising before the United States International Trade Commission and through the Abbreviated New Drug Application process.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2007, Scott practiced in the intellectual property groups at Shearman & Sterling LLP and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Prior to entering the practice of law, he worked as an environmental engineer at Banner Pharmacaps, a global gelatin-based drug delivery and specialty pharmaceutical company.
