Burns, Mary Patricia

Doug Burns is a cum laude graduate of Boston University. He first attended University of California's Hastings College of Law, where he was named to the Law Review, and then transferred to Rutgers University School of Law where he earned his J.D. degree.

Burns devotes substantial time to representing clients in business related matters and has particular expertise in commercial transactions, equipment-related sale and financing transactions, contract drafting and negotiation and employment law. Negotiating complex commercial contracts and resolving complex commercial disputes are his forte. He has represented domestic and multi national companies across many industry sectors, including equipment manufacturers, equipment financing companies, flavor and fragrance companies, software developers and service companies.

He is a delegate/member of Mackrell International, an international organization of independent law firms with approximately 70 member firms around the world and serves on the organization's International Committee. In this capacity he regularly attends meetings in locations around the world and has developed significant contacts and expertise in international business transactions.

Burns also handles civil litigation in a wide range of areas including commercial and employment matters. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in major personal injury and product liability litigation and has obtained million-dollar recoveries by trial and settlement. His dispute resolution skills and claim evaluation expertise have been fine tuned by serving as a court appointed arbitrator.
